Notes from 52nd International STC Conference
Seattle, Washington, May 8-12, 2005
Bridging the Gap Between Inductry and Academe

Session Description:
In this two-presentation session, the Orlando Chapter described several highly
successful projects that have resulted from the partnership between the chapter
and the technical communication program at the University of Central
Florida: a formal mentoring program, two
successful fund-raisers (one for the chapter and one for the AccessAbility
SIG), an educational outreach initiative to Central Florida High Schools, a
self-sustaining memorial college scholarship program, and a cooperative project between the chapter and
UCF that developed several new public relations documents for the chapter. The presentation included
a demonstration of the outstanding multimedia presentations developed by jointly by the chapter
and UCF under an STC Special Opportunities grant.
